Mikulski has a Democrat challenger… #MDvote #MDdems #tcot #p2 #MDpolitics #MDgop #MDcons
Chris Garner hopes to steal the the nomination from entrenched leftist Barbara Mikulski. I sincerely wish the guy luck and I encourage rational Democrats who still like America to support Mr. Garner.
I’m sure we disagree on much but given the ultra left wing face of the current Democrat party, Garner’s “Why I am Running” statement is a breath of fresh air.
Why I am Running
My reason for running for the US Senate is the obvious difference between the choices made by the elected officials compared to the needs of the citizens. The new health bill offers a consummate example of this wrongheaded direction. In the past the Democrat Party has stood fast for the working class men and women of American. Today they have quit that role and are more concerned about the special interests of groups such as the Trial Lawyers Association, the Pharmaceutical Industry, Terrorists, and Illegal Aliens. In our state, the legislature has fired, furloughed and reduced the pay of Maryland citizens in order to fund illegal alien healthcare. I am a liberal Democrat not a Leftist, and I shall make the differences known during this campaign. (see Wheel of Fortune)
Major Issues
The Major issues that I will pursue in support of all working Americans are:
■ Reindustrialization of Maryland and the United States.
■ Buy American Program (see Bob the Minivan).
■ Limiting imports from any one country to a 15% imbalance.
■ Economic optimization of the Healthcare System.
■ End Illegal Immigration.
■ Fiscal Responsibility.
■ Term Limits, Disincumbentization, and a reduction in pay for all Congress men and women by half.

The ideal presidential career path. #tcot #sgp
When I worked for the federal government we were encouraged to create an IDP, which stands for “Individual Development Plan.” This was a document in which we would set out our professional goals and then invent a list of fictional assignments and desired training that would help achieve those goals.
The purpose of the IDP was fourfold.
1. It excused managers and supervisors from having to take any personal initiative in helping their employees advance in their careers.
2. It allowed managers and supervisors to more easily deny employees’ requests for assignments or training that were not foreseen when writing the IDP.
3. The IDP process created jobs for middle managers displaced by reorganizations but who needed some ostensible purpose for showing up and collecting a paycheck.
and
4. It created the impression among the more gullible employees that someone above them on the organizational chart really cared about their career goals.
The idea of an IDP is not inherently a bad one though. It’s just that putting a good idea into the hands of federal bureaucrats is like putting a carton of eggs into a wood chipper.
All that aside, I thought it might be useful to create an IDP or suggested career path for someone who wants to at least try to be an elected official and a potentially good president. The following steps should be undertaken in the roughly the following order:
1. Learn what the Constitution meant to those who wrote it and ratified it.
2. Get an actual job, a mortgage and pay bills without the help of others.
3. Start or run a business in which you are responsible for meeting payroll while earning a profit.
4. Develop a personal moral philosophy that you are not embarrassed to state publicly and will state publicly even if it means losing someone’s vote.
Only after these 4 steps are complete should anyone consider running for any office. If after completing these steps one still desires to become involved in government, the following would be the ideal order in which one should rise to prominent national office.
1. School Board
2. State Delegate
3. State Senator
4. Mayor
5. U.S. Representative
6. U.S. Senator
7. Governor.
8. President.
Steps 1,2,3,5,and 6 are not mandatory as they provide little valuable leadership experience, but we’re currently seeing what happens when someone jumps from the mail room to the CEO’s office without making some significant stops in between. At no point should anyone, regardless of political ideology, run for president without having been the chief executive of something. Ideally, being president is a job to which one brings demonstrated leadership skills. On the job training is not an option.
