Andrew Breitbart, An Upright Soul

I’m not qualified to write a memorial piece on Andrew Breitbart, so let this passage suffice:

But the souls of the upright are in the hands of God, and no torment can touch them.
To the unenlightened, they appeared to die, their departure was regarded as disaster,
their leaving us like annihilation; but they are at peace.
If, as it seemed to us, they suffered punishment, their hope was rich with immortality;
slight was their correction, great will their blessings be. God was putting them to the test and has proved them worthy to be with him;
he has tested them like gold in a furnace, and accepted them as a perfect burnt offering.
At their time of visitation, they will shine out; as sparks run through the stubble, so will they.

#CPAC Wrap-Up Take 1

My Myers-Briggs personality type pegs the meter for “introvert” but I was still looking forward to the Blog Bash party Thursday night because some good friends were nominated for awards, including Jimmie Bise for best podcast, and Sarah Rumpf (Sunshine State Sarah) and RBPundit (The Right Sphere and contributor at Breitbart’s “Bigs”) for best Twitter feed, and many others.

The Delivery Show Logo

It was a tough call in all categories but I’m happy that The Delivery won best podcast. Jimmie really works hard on it and produces a great show. (Did I mention that I designed the show’s logo? ). RBPundit took best Twitter feed. RB has really come on strong as a blogger this past year and he loves to bring it right to the lefties in the Twitterverse. Read his stuff.

One great thing about CPAC is that it’s a chance to meet in person conservatives whom you may only know from their media appearances or through online communication. Allen West met Joe the Plumber for example.

The leaders of FreedomWorks’ poll about the best tea party Senate candidates, Maryland’s Dan Bongino and Texas’  Ted Cruz were spotted in the hotel bar sharing a table with Andrew Breitbart.

Personally, I had the pleasure of meeting radio hosts Rodger Hedgecock and Dana Loesch, Governor Rick Perry and MEP Daniel Hannan. I have exclusive video of perhaps the most momentous meeting that happened during CPAC between Twitter’s Marie Bernadette and game show host and commentator Chuck Woolery.

Also, this happened. (h/t The Shark Tank) That’s the world famous Ben Howe from the Ben Howe Show. Ben Howe. Ben Howe. Ben Howe.

Stacy McCain hits the Top Five at #CPAC

Despite the efforts of literally tens of reactionary protesters, professional islamaphobe and sometimes blogger, Robert Stacy McCain was a big hit at last fall’s Maryland Conservative Action Network “Turning the Tides” Conference. Now, Politico has proclaimed him to be one of the “5 Non-politicians to Watch at CPAC.”

5.) Robert Stacy McCain

If you want to see someone thoroughly enjoy CPAC, look no further than this Washington Times-turned-American Spectator scribe, whose weathered face (he likes to call himself a “skinny redneck”) gets a new glow this time of year whenever CPAC comes to town. He calls it “Mardi Gras for the right.” After years of attending, he knows most virtually everyone and occupies the Marriott Wardman like a mayor (or “an epic schmoozer” or a “cruise director”). And he loves the rare opportunity in Washington of surrounded by his conservative pals, since he normally just annoys liberals. How can you find McCain? If the chain smoking and fedora don’t tip you off, he’ll be the guy in the press section who brings his family and boisterously laughs at Ann Coulter’s jokes, to the chagrin of mainstream types. And how do you know he’s pumped for this year? He’s already dubbed it the “best CPAC ever” and has planned how to “be in seven places simultaneously.”

Be sure to read McCain’s latest at the American Spectator: The Best CPAC Ever.
